This is great tool! Very handy but also makes you realise how we're all being ripped off by our ISPs. The fantastic high connection speeds quoted by them don't look so great when converted back to reality!

Anonymous 2017-04-06 02:03:44

I'm getting 100/40 line, but really I expect the speeds to be 50/20 but I'm still excited because it is a major improvement over my current 10/2 line I have now.

Nice website its not full of ads gets the job done quickly. I LIKE.

xXlaMurXx 2017-02-11 19:05:43

really enjoyed the one id*** explanation on how there are really 10 bits in a byte because you can't use the full 8 bits due to ethernet protocol headers. wow... jeez dude, ur du**. ethernet protocol headers indeed hahaha

Anon 2017-02-05 13:27:33

The content on the internet itself is measured with bits.

Puerto Rico 2017-01-30 01:01:03

Why do IP's insist on "Bits per second" instead of bytes!!! Nowhere else in Earth are "bits" used!! Stop being so obvious and stick to a useable, common standard!

Adam 2016-12-14 05:23:34

very useful..... I was so confused and thought I was paying for MB/s

JS 2016-11-26 20:15:38

Your conversion is a straight bits to bytes and implies the result is the useable byte rate. Unfortunately this is misleading as it doesn't take into account the overhead of the various Ethernet protocol headers. A closer approximation of the useable byte transfer rate is about 10 bits per byte. Therefore a 10 Mbps connection will provide a useable byte rate of approximately 1 MBps.

svetlomir: be precise, mbps is the same as mb/s (/ is per)
I assume you wanted to write Mbps and MB/s that are obviously different scalars and this was your intention...
