How Many Kilobytes per second in a Megabit per second?

1 Kilobyte/sec is equal to (8 × Megabit/sec) / 1000.
1 Megabit/s = 125 Kilobytes/sec.

Mbps : Megabit per second (Mbit/s or Mb/s)
kB/s : Kilobyte per second
1 byte = 8 bits
1 bit = (1/8) bytes
1 bit = 0.125 bytes
1 kilobyte = 10001 bytes
1 megabit = 10002 bits
1 megabit = (1000 / 8) kilobytes
1 megabit = 125 kilobytes
1 megabit/second = 125 kilobytes/second
1 Mbps = 125 kB/s

To those complaining that their internet service provider isn't giving them what they promised. Here is the breakdown of why it all goes wrongThe ISP will make sure the data transfer rate between them and you is what they promise, but the data transfer rate between them and wherever you are actually downloading data from might be MUCH lower. IE if you are downloading a game from Steam, the data can go from Steam to the ISP faster than your ISP has promised you, then it will be slowed down by the ISP to the rate they promised you. However if you are downloading a video of your child's first steps from your spouse, then the data has to go from their phone to the cell towers, to the internet usually across multiple servers on the internet, to your ISP, then to you. The slowest of each of these steps will bottleneck the entire process meaning you can have the best ISP in the world, but if the cell networks are overloaded, your video will still stutter as it fails to download. Now think about where the data you are downloading comes from. If any of the hops it has to make from it's source to you are slow, either by old hardware or by companies deliberately slowing down data they don't like your download will be slow.TLDR If you are using the content as you download it, 5Mbps per person is about all you need from an ISP. Anything more is wasted as the ISP won't be able to provide it in real world conditions. If you want to download huge things like movies or games from large, well-funded corporations like Valve's Steam before you start using them, a higher speed might help. ...

So, I'm paying my provider for 1GB a month...my youngest son has a PS4, i have a Vizio TV w SmartCast, oldest son has a laptop, and we all three have smartphones. All connected. If the boys are on the PS4, my TV gliches on Netflix and Disney, and my phone is up and down on connectivity. Right now, my TV is showing 5660.00 Kbs. I'm thinking that's a slow connection speed. I can't figure out the math...sorry. You're all saying something different. Can someone convert it please? So i can decide whether or not to chew on customer service? ...
